Asustek carry on to innovate around the low-power ultra portable format, with the new 1.25kg, battery-friendly U2E laptop set to launch in Taiwan next week, the company has exposed.
The new laptop, enfold in either black or brown leather, is built for power-savings with a light emitting diode (LED) backlight behind its 11in LCD panel and a 32GB solid-state drive (SSD) in its place of a hard-disk drive (HDD). LED backlights use about 10-15 percent less power than the cold cathode bright lamp (CCFL) backlights that are currently used in most laptop PCs. SSDs save power as well, because unlike HDDs, they do not contain any moving parts.
