Asus today reveals its Eee PC 4G model in India. This especially light laptop is a small, slim affair that’s primarily under attack at schoolchildren, housewives, senior citizens, and teenagers – who take pleasure in simple computing and don’t require the full features of a conventional laptop.
Albert Tung, Managing Director, ASUS India, said, “The ASUS Eee PC is a revolution that has improved the computing lifestyle of technology users. It aims at inspiring human life like all our other technology aid. With computing demands as well as growing number of users, both young and old, the ASUS Eee PC provides users with a new mobile Internet knowledge like never before.”
Francis Kao, Product Manager, ASUS India, said, “It is a matter of great pride for us to introduce the Eee PC for Indian users. The worldwide receipt of this product is symbolic of its simplicity, robust build quality and user friendliness. Although it is first and foremost aimed at schoolchildren and teenagers, even other user groups have shown a lot of interest in this product.”
The Eee PC is initially being introduced in the Mumbai market. It will be available at select major retailers and also through the company’s network of channel partners, at an MRP of Rs 18,000. The first sale will begin at 5 pm on February 2 at select Croma outlets in Mumbai. The first 100 buyers will be entitled to an additional special gift.
For the Indian market, the ASUS Eee PC (normally available with a Linux interface) is being given a special Windows Starter Edition-based GUI. This is being in done in conjunction with Microsoft. While not too many details are obtainable at the moment, we can look forward to seeing this product soon.
